Heather Ward - Artistic Director & Producer
Heather is a Director and Producer with a desire to create current, innovative and inspirational theatre, and to provide creative opportunities for others.
Heather trained at the University of Kent graduating in 2009 with a Masters in Directing, and also trained in Directing at The Central School of Speech and Drama.
From 2012 - 2013 Heather worked with Writers Avenue as the co-Artistic Director & Producer helping to drive the company forward, and directed and produced sellout productions including FITNESS FREAKS (Pleasance Theatre, 2013), CELEBWRITE! (Soho Theatre, 2012), 7 (Pleasance Theatre, 2012) and OBSIDERE in THE FIRST 20 MINUTES (Soho Theatre 2011 and Pleasance Theatre 2012). With The Directors Club, the club for directors that she founded in 2015, she has produced and directed THE INTERVIEW (Leicester Square Theatre, 2015), NO U-TURN (Pleasance Theatre, 2016), DRAFTS (Southwark Playhouse, 2016), THE SECRET LIFE OF SALLY (Southwark Playhouse, 2016), FREE (Southwark Playhouse, 2017), NOTHING TO DECLARE (Southwark Playhouse, 2017) , YOU'RE INVITED (Southwark Playhouse, 2017) and WHAT IS LOVE? (Southwark Playhouse, 2018)
Heather also curated and produces the hit show MAKE THE CUT at St James Theatre, an ongoing event occurring 3 times a year.
Heather directed sellout production AFFAIRS by Rob Young at The Camden People's Theatre in March 2014, which received four star reviews. She also worked for the Queens Theatre for four years, and has directed plays such as CHATROOM by Enda Walsh (2010) and MARKET BOY by David Eldridge (2011). Heather has also produced and directed performances for arts festivals across London, including 9 PARTS OF DESIRE by Heather Raffo, at the Arts 4 Human Rights Festival, London.
In 2015 Heather was the Assistant Director to Mel Hillyard on THE LATE HENRY MOSS at The Southwark Playhouse which has received four and five star reviews.
JESSICA MAYNE - SCRIPT READER & DRAMATURG
Jess worked for BBC1 as a post production assistant on the continuing drama DOCTORS, in Birmingham and later went on to work on commercials for Manchester United, THE VOICE and fashion label Marrisota. Jess completed her degree at University Collage Falmouth, Cornwall, in Film Studies in 2008. A year later she returned to the arts collage to do a Masters in screenwriting.
Jess has always had a passion for writing herself, but realised her real strengths lie in editing other writers work - the emphasis being on solution-focused rather than just spotting problems in the script at hand. Jess has a desire to work closely with the writer to seek out the best in their own potential.
SASKIA VAN 'T Hoff - associate artist
Saskia has stage managed productions for the company at Leicester Square Theatre, The Pleasance Theatre, The Southwark Playhouse, and St James Theatre.
Saskia is also an associate artist of the company and uses her creative and technical skills to manage the website, as well as contributing in many ways to the work the company produces.
Saskia has been involved in theatre since she was 6 years old; from acting to producing, writing, and directing. She was a long-standing member of a theatre company in the Netherlands, writing, producing, and performing plays, before moving to London in 2014. In 2016 Saskia directed her first full-length play, THERE HAS POSSIBLY BEEN AN INCIDENT, for KDC Theatre.
Saskia moved to Sydney, Australia early 2017 and is currently working as production and stage manager for the New Theatre in Newtown. She is also studying at NIDA, the largest drama school in Australia, to expand her skill set and meet upcoming artists.
CAROLINE WARD - Production assistant & MARKETING DESIGNER
Caroline found her interest in graphic design during her time at the University of Lincoln, studying Media Production. She has designed for Director's Cut, Writer's Avenue and other emerging companies.
Caroline is also a professional actress with many credits across stage, film, television and commercials and graduated with MA Acting for Screen from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
Caroline's production team collaborated with Director's Cut for her final thesis project to create the short film SHELF LIFE which will be entering the film festival circuit next year. Caroline also worked as an assistant for Channel 4 News during the Olympics and has production experience on both film and commercial work.
yarit dor - associate artist
Yarit Dor is a Movement Director and Fight Choreographer. She is an Associate Artist of Directors Cut and runs some of the workshops with The Directors Club and The Actors Club teaching skills in stage combat, physical movement and direction. She is a former dancer and dramaturge of Hagit Yakira Dance Company and currently coaches actors in movement, physical skills and stage combat at drama conservatoires such as Rose Bruford, RADA and Italia Conti.
She studied dance at Trinity Laban after which she continued her training in theatre directing at Rose Bruford College and Jacques Lecoq physical theatre at LISPA. Yarit has choreographed and coached on a variety of shows from musicals and new writing to classics and devised theatre.
